Carrying out molecular genetic research on a free-living canine population is unique!! Usually, such research is focused on dogs that are maintained under restricted conditions within a research institution. This cannot be done with human genetics. One of our goals is to demonstrate that the approach to human genetics is equally productive in canine genetic research. In this, the Georgie Project is serving as a model for future canine genetic research
